荷兰设计师想用特制“吸尘器”清洁北京的空气。
       A Dutch artist and de-signer has come up with a device he hopes will suck pollutants from Beijing’s smog-filled skies,creating some clean air for the city’s surgical-mask wearing res-idents.So howdoes it work?

  “It’s like when you have a balloon which has static elec-tricity(静电)and your hair goes toward it.Same with the smog,”artist Daan Roosegaarde explained.His studio has reached an agreement with the Beijing government to test the technology in one of the capital’s parks.
  Roosegaarde said that an indoor prototype(雏形)had al-ready proven it worked.He was confident the results—with the help of a team of scientists and engineers—would be replicated(复制)outside.He said Beijing was a good place to explore the technology due to its natural conditions.
  The Dutchman acknowledges though that projects like this are a way of drawing attention to the problem,rather than a viable(可行的)solution to Beijing’s severe air pollution.“This is not the real answer for smog.The real answer has to do with clean cars,[eco-friendly industries]and different lifestyles.”
  However,he hopes the project will make a“radical(激进的)statement”by allowing the city’s residents to realize the difference between breathing clean and smog-filled air.
  Roosegaarde was previously known for several un-usual projects from his studio,including rechargeable,glow-in-the-dark road markings,a dance floor that generates electricity from the action of dancing and a living dome con-structed of hundreds of smart flowers.
