Josie Zetz is11years old.Her62-year-oldfather,Jim,has already been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer(胰腺癌晚期), which means he might not have the opportunity to see her next birthday, much less her wedding.

With the knowledge that Jim would likely not be able to walk Josie down the aisle(带某人步入礼堂)on her wedding, local photographer Lindsey Villatoro decided to make a lifelong memory for the family on Josie’s11th birthday.

With support from friends and strangers, Villatoro put on a specialdaddy-daughterceremony. In just 72 hours, she went about getting financial contributions from the local community, and secured a wedding cake, dress, catering(酒席),flowers and even hair and make-up free of charge.

At the climax of the backyard ceremony, the terminally(晚期地)ill father walked his daughter down the makeshift(临时的) aisle and placed a sparkling ring on her finger.

“Your dad may not get to see you get married, but he is here to walk you down the aisle today, pastor(牧师)Gary Gilbraith told Josie. The daddy-daughter relationship is one of the most special relationships in life.

Josie was a little bit overwhelmed(不知所措的)when her mom picked her up from school that day. But later, she said,This is the best day of my life. She was very glad and excited to have these moments. And she would always remember them.

Villatoro first met the Zetzes when she photographed them for one of their final family portraits together. Hearing how Josie was upset by the prospect of her dad missing the important moments of her life, the photographer, who has an11-year-old daughter herself, came up with this secret idea.

Villatoro is also the founder of Love Song Photography in California. Two years ago, Villatoro began offering photography sessions for terminally ill clients or clients with serious illnesses to document their journeys. “I try to really showcase the person for who they are and not the illness,” she said.

The wedding came and Villatoro captured it on camera and created a video titledWalk Me down the Aisle Daddy. The story soon went viral on the Internet.

“The video is to let people know Jim and to feel a part of his family,Villatoro said. There is going to come a day very soon when hes not here. So for everyone to see those moments inside their family and connect with them is a really big thing for them. They feel very blessed. The goal when I do these things is to preserve that person. Most people focus on the death and not the beauty of that person, who they were and the memories that they have left.”
