If you are a World Cup fan,get ready tolose some sleep. Because of the timedifference between Brazil and Shanghai, the games will be shown on local TV in the middle of the night or the very early morning.Sleepless nights ahead for World Cup fans(八年级阅读) - 称子英语 - 孙广趁教育教学工作室
Shanghai is eleven hours ahead of Brazil, so yesterday when the tournament kicked off in the city of So Paulo(圣保罗) at 5 p.m., you had to watch it at four this morning. And a month later, when the final is played in the city of Rio de Janeiro(里约热内卢) at 4 p.m. on Sunday July13, you will be watching it at 3 a.m. on Monday July14. By then, of course, you may be walking around like a glazed-eyed zombie because of sleep deprivation.
Night owls and early birds probably won’t mind the time difference. They are used to being up when everyone else is asleep. Night owls like to stay up late and early birds like to get up early. If you’re not one of them, however, you’re going to need a very loud alarmclock to make sure you don’t miss any of the exciting matches.
Of course, for those of you who don’t want to have your beauty sleep disturbed, you can always watch a match at a more convenient hour when it’s rebroadcast in the afternoon and evening. Just make sure none of your night owl or early bird friends spoil it for you by telling you the score.
