[提要]一只加拿大黑雁困在了冰层中,经过的一群天鹅没有置之不理,而是协力将其营救出来。鸟儿们真是给人类好好上了一课,有人落难的时候,请不要吝啬你的援助之手!

It was on such a morning, near Oxford Maryland. For a moment I stood quietly by the window, looking at what the night’s storm had painted — a completely white world. Suddenly into my sight came the figure of a large Canada goose, very still, its wings folded tight to its sides, its feet frozen to the ice of the river.

If so for birds, why not for man?(中考阅读) - 称子英语 - 孙广趁教育教学工作室

Then from the dark sky, I saw a line of swans. They moved in their own singular formation, graceful, brave and free. Noticing the goose, the white birds formed a white circle. It floated from the top of the sky downward. At last, as easy as feathers coming to earth, the circle landed on the ice. As the swans surrounded the goose, I feared that its body might be torn into pieces by those great swan bills.

Amazingly instead, those bills began to work on the ice. It went on for a long time. At last, the goose was freed. The swans rose again, and circled in the sky, awaiting the result of their labors.

The goose was free, standing on the ice. But it couldn’t fly for some ice held in its feathers. Then four of the swans watching in the sky came down to help it get rid of the ice.

When the goose spread its wings to their fullest, the four swans took off and joined the circling group. They went on their journey to their secret destination.

Behind them, rising with incredible speed and joy, the goose moved into the sky. It followed them and joined the last end of the elegant line.

I watched them until they disappeared over the tips of the farthest trees. Only then did I realize that tears were running down my cheeks. This is a true story. I always think of it in the bad moments, and tell myself, “If so for birds, why not for man?”

Thinking:

1. What can we learn from the story?

2. 你还相信雷锋精神吗?
